Leadership Is a call to serve, Tabuya

Leadership is more than just wearing a badge on your uniform, it is a call to serve.

Minister for Information, Environment and Climate Change Lynda Tabuya shared this message with students of Ratu Latianara College in Serua during their Prefects’ Induction Ceremony.

Tabuya says the prefects’ badge symbolises the confidence of teachers, the respect of peers and the core values of the school.

She says when the badge is pinned close to the heart, it serves as a reminder that service, dedication and commitment must remain at the centre of leadership.

The Minister urged student leaders to use their authority with kindness, end the cycle of bullying and lead by example.

A total of 58 student leaders were badged during the ceremony.

Tabuya also addressed the pressing national issue of littering, highlighting its far-reaching impact on communities and the environment.

She says many people do not realise the cost of cleaning up litter each year or fully understand its long-term consequences, adding that it often comes down to simple carelessness.

The Minister encouraged students to use their positions to create positive change, change that uplifts lives and guides others along the right path.
