Fines-Leleiwasa excited for Fijian Drua journey ahead of 2026 season

Fines-Leleiwasa excited for Fijian Drua journey ahead of 2026 season

30-year-old Issak Fines-Leleiwasa is grateful to be part of the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua for the 2026 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season and says he has been following the team over the years.

Speaking to fijivillage Sports, Fines-Leleiwasa, who has paternal links to Kaba in Tailevu, says seeing the home ground and the atmosphere the team brings during the competition excites him, and he believes it will be a super special season for him.

When asked if he hopes to play for the Flying Fijians if selected for the 2027 Rugby World Cup, he says at the moment his main focus is to do his best for the Fijian Drua, but in the future, if he is given the opportunity, he will grab it with both hands and make it count.

He also highlighted that one thing he notices when playing with the Drua is the physicality the team brings.

Fines-Leleiwasa signed with the Fijian Drua in July 2025 after playing for the Western Force.

Meanwhile, the Drua will play their first pre-season game against the Chiefs in Mount Maunganui on January 30.

They then head back to take on the Skipper Select Provincial XV on February 6 at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

Their first game of the season is a battle of the Pacific against Moana Pasifika on Valentine’s Day at The Fortress in Lautoka.
