Sewerage spill behind Extra Supermarket in Extra Laucala Beach

Sewage waste has been continuously spilling from a manhole behind a prominent supermarket since last month, with no action taken by the relevant authorities to address the issue.

The situation has become an eyesore for members of the public who shop at the supermarket, while the strong foul smell has also caused discomfort to shoppers and nearby residents.

A concerned resident, who wished to remain anonymous, sent videos to fijivillage News this morning, stating that the sewage spill has worsened despite attempts to raise the issue with the property owners.

He says the uncontrolled spill has now flowed down to Bulei Road and into a nearby drain.

Questions have been sent to the Water Authority of Fiji and the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Environment, Dr. Sivendra Michael.
