Thousands of stray and vulnerable animals across Fiji could receive lifesaving veterinary care and desexing services as Animals Fiji prepares to host its largest annual fundraiser, Disco for a Cause 2026 in Nadi next month.
The event will feature live music, DJs, food and drinks, raffles, a live auction and 70s disco-themed entertainment, bringing together supporters, businesses, community members and animal lovers.
Animals Fiji says funds raised will support Animals Fiji's veterinary care, desexing programmes, shelter care, emergency treatment, outreach clinics, humane education, and wider animal welfare and public health work throughout the country.
The fundraiser comes as animal welfare continues to receive national attention, with the Government highlighting desexing as part of its efforts to manage stray and free-roaming dogs.
Animals Fiji says about 2,000 dogs have been desexed during the programme period, with the organisation carrying out 1,196 of those surgeries, representing about 60 percent of the total.
Animals Fiji says while it appreciates the Government's subsidy for the programme, the funding covers only part of the cost of each procedure, with the remaining expenses met through donations, income from its clinics and fundraising initiatives such as Disco for a Cause.
The organisation currently operates permanent clinics in Nadi, Lautoka, Savusavu and Labasa, while continuing to expand veterinary services through outreach clinics in communities with limited access to animal healthcare.
It says it completed 35 outreach clinic days throughout 2025 and has already conducted 41 outreach clinic days between January and June this year.
The cocktail-style fundraising event will be held at VOU Hub on Saturday, 26th September, from 5pm to 11pm.
