Vatunisolo win Fiji’s fourth medal in the Commonwealth Games

Naibili Vatunisolo has won Fiji's fourth medal in the Commonwealth Games

Team Fiji flag bearer Naibili Vatunisolo has won Fiji's fourth medal in the Commonwealth Games after claiming bronze in the Women's F42-44/61-64 Discus this morning.

Vatunisolo threw a distance of 23.70 metres while Goodness Chiemerie Nwachukwu of Nigeria won gold with a distance of 36.56 metres and Sarah Edmiston of Australia won silver with a distance of 34.96 metres.

Former Tavua College student Yeshnil Karan finished in 11th place in the Men's 1,500 metres heats last night.

This was Karan's first appearance at the Games and he was up against some of the best long-distance runners, such as Jake Heyward of Wales, Oliver Hoare of Australia and Timothy Cheruiyot of Kenya.

Karan ran a time of 4 minutes 4.22 seconds.

Looking at other results, Semesa Naiseruvati lost to Jamie Walker of England 21-11 in Round 4 of the lawn bowl Men's singles but made a come back in Round 5 defeating Robert Simpson of Jamaica 21-4, Fiji lost to Guyana 3-0 in table tennis Mixed doubles, Akanisi Latu lost to Bhavina Hasmukhbhai Patel of India 3-0 in the table tennis Women's singles, and Fiji lost to Guyana in the table tennis Women doubles.

Australia continues to lead the medal tally with 50 gold, 41 silver and 39 bronze.
