This Flying Fijians team is a different team and the new generation.

This was stated by Fiji Water Flying Fijians coach Simon Raiwalui after their historic 22-15 win over the Wallabies in their second Rugby World Cup 2023 pool match yesterday.

Raiwalui says they could have fallen into the trap of complaining about what happened in their first pool clash against Wales where they were robbed of a win but they got it out of their system and turned their focus on how to beat the Wallabies.

He says the great thing about this team is the way they set their mindset right for the next task ahead and they did not let the negativity spoil their focus on creating history.

When asked if he bought the mind games the Wallabies tried to play after they announced the injury of their prop Taniela Tupou and captain Will Skelton, Raiwalui says he was not worried about the Wallabies’ game day squad as he was focused on putting together a formidable side to counter them.

He says their preparation day by day was focused on how to beat the Wallabies.

Meanwhile, Fiji’s win over Australia has been rewarded with a one-place gain in the World Rugby Men’s Rankings putting Fiji up to eighth, one place behind Wales.

The Flying Fijians will now turn their focus to their two remaining games and hope to secure two bonus point wins from those games to book a spot in the quarter finals.

Fiji will play Georgia in their third RWC pool clash on the 1st of October at 3.45am.
