New Zealand 7s coach Tomasi Cama

New Zealand 7s coach Tomasi Cama has named his final 13-member squad for the upcoming Dubai 7s next week with three new players set to make their international 7s debut.

Cama has named Oli Mathis from Waikato and Sofai Maka from North Harbour while Joey Taumateine is promoted from the NZ Men’s 7s Development Team.

Cama says the debutants all have exciting potential.

He says as coaches it excites them to bring young people in and help with their growth.

He adds the new players have to learn fast, but that is all part of the excitement.

NZ’s experience will come in the form of Captain Dylan Collier, Joe Webber and Sione Molia, while veteran Fiji-born halfback Akuila Rokolisoa is sidelined due to injury.

The NZ 7s side includes Dylan Collier, Jayden Keelan, Andrew Knewstubb, Oli Mathis, Sofai Maka, Ngarohi McGarvey-Black, Sione Molia, Tone Ng Shiu, Lewis Ormond, Brady Rush, Joey Taumateine, Codemeru Vai and Joe Webber.

NZ is in pool C alongside Fiji, the USA and Spain.

The Dubai 7s will be held from next Saturday to Monday 2nd December.
