Recruits reminded of the importance of accountability and urged to wear their uniforms with pride

Minister for Policing, Ioane Naivalurua reminded the Batch 68 recruits during their passout today of the importance of accountability, urging them to wear their uniforms with pride.

Naivalurua says today is not the final destination, but the beginning of a lifelong commitment to service to family, the police force, and the nation.

He described the occasion as a proud moment for the families and friends of the graduating officers.

The Minister also noted that 105 of the 149 graduates, began their training already married and with children.

He also highlighted the inclusion of 10 officers from Tuvalu, describing their graduation as the fulfillment of long-held dreams.

The Minister says that the officers of Batch 68 are privileged to serve their families, the Police Force, and the country, 

The Baton of Honour was awarded to Steven Mataele, who dedicated the achievement to his late father.

The 25-year-old was emotional as he paid tribute to his father, whom he described as his greatest inspiration.

Accompanied by his mother, Mataele says the sacrifices made during the 16 weeks of training had paid off, and he expressed his eagerness to serve the people and the nation.
