Fiji Women’s hockey tops standings after day 2 of Pacific Nations Hockey Championship

The Fiji Women’s hockey side currently tops the standings for the Women’s division after day 2 of the 2024 Pacific Nations Hockey Competition, following three commanding victories in their round-robin matches at the Suva Hockey Centre in Laucala Bay.

Fiji thumped Samoa 9-1 before thrashing Tonga 12-0 and edging NZ Pasifika 4-2 in their third match.

The Fiji Warriors Women’s side is in 5th place and has yet to register a win, following two losses and a draw.

Meanwhile, in the Men’s division, Fiji continues their unbeaten run with 4 wins so far and sitting in second place behind NZ Fiji.

The Fiji Warriors Men’s side are sitting in 4th place after securing 2 wins and two losses.

In other results from day 2, in the Women’s division, Vanuatu edged Tonga 5-3, Fiji Warriors drew 2-all with Samoa and Vanuatu edged Fiji Warriors 4-2.

In the Men’s division, NZ Fiji thumped Vanuatu 7-1, Fiji beat the Solomon Islands 6-0, Fiji Warriors defeated Tonga 6-0, Fiji defeated Samoa 10-2, the Solomon Islands defeated Vanuatu 5-2, NZ Fiji beat Fiji Warriors 9-3 and Fiji Warriors thrashed Vanuatu 13-2.

Day 3 of the competition will kick off this morning at the Suva Hockey Centre.

In the Women’s division, Samoa will play Vanuatu at 8am, NZ Pasifika will take on Vanuatu at 11am, Fiji will take on Fiji Warriors at 11.45am, Tonga will play Samoa at 12.30pm, Fiji Will play Vanuatu at 4.15pm, NZ Pasifika will take on Samoa at 5pm and Fiji Warriors will play Tonga at 5.45pm.

In the Men’s division, Samoa will play Tonga at 8.45am, Fiji Warriors will play Vanuatu at 9.30am, Fiji will take on NZ Fiji at 10.15am, Samoa will play Vanuatu at 2pm, Fiji will take on Tonga at 2.45pm, the Solomon Islands will play the Fiji Warriors at 3.30pm and Vanuatu will take on the Fiji Warriors at 6.30pm.
