The Fiji School Boys made a flying start against the Australian School Boys, but failed to contain the Aussies as they were demolished 62-26 in a test match this afternoon.

Fiji dazzled with the opening try to blind side winger Jone Kunaqio, who went 95 metres after several offloads found Fijian hands despite desperate attempts from the Aussies to bat it down.

Nothing summed up this high-risk, high-reward attitude than the first ten minutes of the game and inside centre Sailosi Taka, finished off a great run from Ratu Vonolagi to score Fiji’s second try.

The Fijians showed flair from the opening whistle with sharp offloads and quick tries to take an early 14-7 lead.

Australia was forced into changes midway through the first half after injuries, but Fiji’s strong defense held them out.

In the 25th minute, Fiji’s hooker was shown a yellow card, and Australia capitalized immediately, scoring their second try to level the match 14-14 in the 29th minute.

Just before the break, Australia’s lock powered over for a try in the 36th minute, giving them the lead for the first time in the match at 21-14.

The Australian School Boys went into halftime to lead 28-14.

The Australians found their groove early and scored the first two tries of the second half to extend their lead to 42-14.

The Australians controlled the game well and scored a total of 33 points in the second half while Fiji managed 12 points to end their first test match today.

The Fiji School Boys will try to redeem themselves in their second match this Saturday at 2pm.
