Former Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s rep and Rio Olympic gold medallist Masivesi Dakuwaqa’s contract with Pro D2 club Biarritz has been terminated following an incident where he bit his teammate Pierre Pagès during a night out.

Pagès required 20 stitches after that incident.

The club conducted an internal investigation and it was confirmed soon after that Dakuwaqa was the perpetrator, who attacked Pagès while the scrum-half was trying to calm a situation between the Fijian and another player.

Dakuwaqa was arrested and taken into police custody following the incident.

In a recent statement released, Biarritz has now confirmed that the 30-year-old has been sacked.

The club says following the internal investigation, the facts alleged against Dakuwaqa made it impossible for him to continue his engagement with the club and it was mutually agreed to end his collaboration with Biarritz.

Dakuwaqa is due to appear in court in May 2025.
