Australian Kangaroos and Bulldogs star Josh Addo-Carr has stood himself down from his team for tonight’s elimination final between his Bulldogs and the Manly Sea Eagles.

It comes amid a report that the Bulldogs winger requested the results of his second drug test were expedited in an attempt to prove his innocence quicker.

Addo-Carr believes wholeheartedly that he wasn’t guilty of taking cocaine and is confident his secondary test will show a negative result.

The 29-year-old has accepted a three-month driving suspension and a $682 fine instead of facing court but it is expected he will still face punishment from the NRL and his club.

In a statement provided, Addo-Carr maintains his innocence and believes his name will be cleared in time.

He stated that he knows he has not done nothing wrong and it is frustrating that the club has to deal with this situation and he feels awful for that.

Addo-Carr says he wants it to be known that he did not take drugs and he looks forward to his name being cleared.

He says until his name is cleared, he will do whatever is best for the team and he hopes he gets the chance to show what the club means to him next week.

The Bulldogs will play the Sea Eagles at 6.05pm this evening.
