The Brumbies held off a surging Swire Shipping Fijian Drua last night to win by 43-28 in their Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific round 8 clash at GIO Stadium.

Starved with possession through the first half-hour, the Drua appeared to be guests at the Brumbies party as the hosts romped to an early 19-0 lead highlighted by a silky 14-minute double for Ben O’Donnell.

After Brumbies lock Darcy Swain went to the sin bin for an intentional foul, the Drua powered over for a try via halfback Peni Matawalu before captain Teti Tela scored the Drua’s second try just before half-time to close the gap to 19-14.

The Drua scored two more tries in the second spell through centres Iosefo Masi and Kalaveti Ravouvou but was not enough as the host romped home scoring 3 more tries one of which was a penalty try for a foul by the Drua.

Flanker Joseva Tamani who was yellow carded in the 72nd minute of play was later named the player of the match.

The Drua will be facing the Chiefs next Friday.

In other results yesterday, the Reds won against the Moana Pasifika by 40-28.

In today's game, Hurricanes will face the Chiefs at 2.35pm and the Waratahs will play the Western Force at 9.35pm.
