Ben Ryan praises Kolinisau despite Fiji Men’s 7s 9th place finish in Singapore 7s

Former Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach Ben Ryan has spoken highly of current coach Osea Kolinisau despite the team’s 9th place finish in the HSBC Singapore 7s tournament over the weekend.

Ryan took to social media with praises for Kolinisau this morning saying, it has been a baptism of fire for Kolinisau but he is one of life’s winners and he is going to do incredible things for Fiji.

He says he watched the Fiji 7s team play in the Singapore 7s from London and he saw a tonne of good things.

He adds he cannot wait to come to Fiji next month.

Ryan was Kolinisau’s coach back in 2013 to 2016 and also coached the Fiji Men’s 7s side to their first-ever gold medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics which was captained by Kolinisau as well.

He also led the team to their first-ever Dubai 7s title in 2013 and also led them to back-to-back World Series titles in 2015 and 2016.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Men’s 7s has been drawn in a tough pool in the upcoming Madrid 7s.

They are in Pool B alongside NZ, Ireland and South Africa.

In Pool A, league winners Argentina is pooled alongside Australia, France and Great Britain.

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side will be in Pool B with Australia, France and Ireland.

NZ, Canada, USA and Great Britain are in Pool A.

The Madrid 7s will only feature 8 teams, divided into two pools and will be held from the 31st of May to the 2nd of June.
