Adam Khan feels connected to his Fijian roots when playing for Fiji U20s

Returning home to represent his home country is something that SportsWorld Fiji Under 20s halfback Adam Khan is grateful for and something he feels that connects him back to his Fijian roots.

Originally from Savusavu, the 20-year-old grew up in Buca Bay, Cakaudrove before moving to Queensland at a very young age, and has been living there with his family.

Khan came from a rugby league background, and he started playing the sport when he was in Year 7 at Maryborough State High School in Queensland, before he made the switch to rugby union last year.

When asked what motivated him to make the switch to rugby union, Khan says he feels he is going to go far in this sport, especially when he is on the hunt for a professional rugby contract.

Now playing for the Brothers Rugby Club in Brisbane, Khan was selected to be part of the Fiji U20s side that participated in the Super Rugby Pacific U20s competition earlier this year.

He says it was a good learning experience for him and the team as well, and even though they did not get the result that they wanted, he was very proud of the players.

He says he is just happy to be back and seeing some of the players they played together in the previous tournament, as well as some new players.

He adds that the team is bonding really well, especially with 11 overseas-based players who are in camp, and they are gelling well with the local players.

Khan says their focus is now all turned to defending their Oceania Rugby Championship U20s title.

The Fiji U20 will take on Tonga next Wednesday in their first match, they will then take on Canada on the 6th of June, and then play Samoa on the 7th of June in their final match.
