A total of 88 teams will compete in the 39th edition of the Fiji Bitter Nawaka Sevens, including 48 men’s teams, 32 Under-21 teams and 8 women’s teams, with 10 new teams set to make their debut this year. Defending champions Devo Babas will return to defend their title, promising another thrilling showdown when the tournament kicks off on March 13th and 14th. Tournament Director Jeff Tamata says fans can expect an exciting competition, with many of the country’s top sevens teams already confirming their participation. Among the teams joining the tournament is the in-form Yaro Rugby Team, which has recently confirmed its participation. Other strong contenders expected to compete include Army Green and Army Red, along with several top teams from the Paradise Beverages Sevens Series. Tamata says the Nawaka Sevens has remained committed to its core objective of developing grassroots rugby in Fiji, which has been the foundation of the tournament for the past 39 years. He adds that the tournament continues to welcome new clubs every year, with another six teams from different regions on standby hoping to secure a spot. Tamata also encouraged fans to come out in numbers to support the event. Insert: Jeff Tamata on Nawaka 7s 5th Feb 26

The Nawaka Sevens will be held on the 13th and 14th of this month at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
