Kellaway and Valetini ruled out of Bledisloe Cup 1 due to injury

The Wallabies have suffered another injury blow with fullback Andrew Kellaway ruled out of Saturday’s test against the All Blacks at Eden Park.

Kellaway has been sidelined for the Bledisloe Cup opener by a calf injury.

The Wallabies announced his absence yesterday, less than a week after star loose forward Rob Valentini was confirmed as unavailable, also with a calf problem.

Kellaway was likely to start at fullback in Auckland after Tom Wright’s season-ending knee injury.

Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt will name their team today and could move Max Jorgensen or Harry Potter from wing to fullback, or shift Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii from centre.

The Wallabies are also without imposing lock Will Skelton because of his club commitments in France, although he is expected to play in next Saturday’s second Bledisloe test in Perth.

After four rounds of the Rugby Championship, the Wallabies lead the standings on 11 points, with South Africa and the All Blacks in second and third on 10, and the Pumas at the bottom on nine.

Every side had two wins and two losses apiece ahead of the final fortnight of matches.

The Wallabies are aiming to win at Eden Park for the first time since 1986 and end the All Blacks’ 31-year, 51-test unbeaten streak at the Auckland venue.

The Wallabies will face the All Blacks at 5.05pm Saturday, while the Springboks will host the Pumas at 3.10am Sunday in Durban.
