Veteran swimmers Carl Probert and Caroline Puamau were selected on merit when they were named in the Pacific Games team.

Fiji Swimming section manager Lucy Erasito said the two swimmers have reached the qualification time for the Pacific Games and had top placings in local competitions.

Erasito said they are doing a lot development and the two swimmers were not brought in as replacements.

Fiji Swimming is yet to confirm the specific events which our swimmers will be taking part in but Carl Probert is likely to participate in the 50 and 100 metres butterfly and the relays.

Caroline Puamau could be listed to take part in the 50 metres and 100 freestyle and also the 50 and 100 metres butterfly events.

Twenty-one swimmers will represent Fiji at the Pacific Games which will be held from the 4th to the 18th of July in Papua New Guinea.
