The Melbourne Cups kicks off tomorrow at 5pm.

Kiwi hopes for victory in the Melbourne Cup lie with two horses after the final field was named on Saturday night.

Two New Zealand‑owned horses Who Shot Thebarman (barrier six) and Criterion (barrier four) will line up against the best of Europe and Japan in the race that stops two nations on Tuesday.

The biggest Kiwi hope and pre‑race favourite, Mongolian Khan, was withdrawn on Thursday due to a colic attack.

Japanese stayer Fame Game will now start the race as a dominant favourite. He finished sixth behind Mongolian Khan in the Caulfield Cup.

The Melbourne Cups kicks off tomorrow at 5pm.
