Truck driver fined after being caught dumping rubbish at Waiyavi Waterfall

The truck driver caught on video illegally dumping rubbish near the Waiyavi Waterfall has been identified and issued with a penalty.

The Lautoka City Council says they have successfully identified the driver following a thorough investigation carried out by the Council’s Litter Prevention Officers.

They stress that the truck owner has accepted full responsibility and has undertaken to clean up the affected area.

The offender has also been issued with a fixed penalty notice by the Litter Prevention Officers and has paid the fine.

Head of Services, Shalend Singh, reiterates that the Lautoka City Council takes environmental protection very seriously and will continue to work closely with all relevant parties to ensure that our environment remains clean and protected.

The Council strongly reminds members of the public to show civic pride by disposing of waste responsibly and strictly in accordance with Council regulations.

The Council also wishes to thank the resident who brought this incident of littering to their attention on video dumping rubbish near the Waiyavi Waterfall has been identified and issued with a penalty.
