Tulo sets new Oceania Junior record

Fiji Sports Council, 2008 Sportsman of the Year 18-year-old Manueli Tulo set a new Oceania Junior record in the 56kg category at the Oceania Weightlifting Institute in Noumea.

Tulo lifted a total of 228kg, 9kg more than he did at the Pune Commonwealth Games, when he won gold for Fiji with a total of 219kg.

The previous record total was 227kg set by Willen Dageago, from Nauru back in 2001.

Tulo's individual lifts were 98kg snatch and 130kg clean and jerk. These were all personal best lifts for Tulo.
