The defending champions England clinched a quarterfinal against Australia with a comfortable win over Tonga.
Paul Stackey, Mathew Tait and Andy Farrell ran in tries as England won the match by 36 points to 20. Tonga scored two tries but it was not enough as they went out of the tournament.
England flyhalf Johnny Wilkinson who scored 16 points in today's match now has 222 World Cup points and is just five points behind Gavin Hastings, who is the tournament's all-time leading scorer with 227.
After the match Tongan captain Nicky Latu was impressed with his side's performance.
England flanker Martin Corry said they are now focussing for the Wallabies match next week.
Meanwhile the other match to be played later tonight will be between All Blacks and Romania at 11pm.
Tomorrow morning at 1am Australia plays Canada and at 3am FMF Flying Fijians take on Wales and then at 7am Scotland meets Italy.
