Two tries from Fiji born winger Seta Tamanivalu in the last few minutes of the game helped the seven time champions, the Crusaders book their spot in the 2017 Super Rugby outclassing the Chiefs 27‑13 in the semifinal.
They led 10‑6 at halftime, before an attacking onslaught in the second half saw them outclass their opposition and take the win.
Two other tries came from Bryn Hall and Israel Dagg.
The Crusaders must sweat on the fitness of ace No 8 Kieran Read as they chase their first Super Rugby title since 2008.
A knee injury forced All Blacks captain Read off field with a couple of minutes remaining, meaning his side finished the game with just 14 men.
Crusaders coach Scott Robertson says it was too early to make any definitive statements about the extent of the injury to Read but, clearly, given his experience and value to the side he will be given every chance to start the final.
Meanwhile, the 2017 Super Rugby will have a new winner as the Hurricanes lost to the Lions 44‑29.
This forces Crusaders to make the 11,500km trip to Johannesburg for next week's Super Rugby final.
The Hurricanes wilted in the Johannesburg sun, squandering a 22‑3 lead to lose 44‑29 to the Lions.
The Crusaders will take on the Lions on the 12th of next month.
