Singapore 7s unpredictable

Singapore 7s unpredictable

The Singapore 7s is known to be a tournament where the dark horses in 7s rugby claim the title.

This could be a different story this year as all teams have come-off afresh from a good break after the Hong Kong and Commonwealth Games 7s.

Last year, the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team finished in seventh place after losing to USA in the main cup quarterfinals while South Africa lost to Australia and New Zealand lost to defending champions Canada.

Rugby legend George Gregan believes that this weekend’s tournament is too tight to call as all the teams have their own strength with teams also preparing for the World Cup 7s.

Meanwhile South Africa 7s coach Neil Powell says they will try their best to shut out Fiji and maintain their lead in the series.

Yesterday the national side showed their support to the Singapore Wheelchair Rugby Team.

Fiji is currently sitting in second place at 123 points while South Africa is in first place with 126 points.

The Fiji Airways Men’s 7s team will take on Japan at 5.36pm this Saturday.

They will then play Russia at 9.02pm Saturday before playing their final pool match against Spain at 12.28am Sunday.

The Cup quarter finals will begin at 4.30pm Sunday, the semi finals will begin at 8.50pm Sunday while the Cup Final is at 12am Monday.
