The Queensland Maroons have beaten the New South Wales Blues 11‑10 in their first State of Origin clash.

A clinical second half from the Maroons and a perfectly‑executed Cooper Cronk field goal helped Queensland beat the New South Wales Blues.

The NSW Blues took a 10-6 lead at half time but made simple errors in attack and defence and lacked execution in the big moments of the second half.

Josh Morris put forward another memorable Origin performance by keeping his opposite centre Greg Inglis quiet all night and saving an Aidan Guerra try.

His fend caused plenty of problems and his speed showed in the Blues' first try.

Beau Scott was also impressive for the Blues as he made four tackle breaks and scored a try.

Cooper Cronk stood out for the Maroons as he kicked the game‑winning field goal, scored the game's opening try and had a hand in the Maroons' second try.

Maroons fullback Billy Slater was also impressive as he was never caught out of position and was a constant presence in attack.

He also had a try disallowed.

The next State of Origin Game II will be held in Melbourne on June 17th at 10pm.
