Fiji win first game of Oceania 7s against New Caledonia

The Fiji Airways National men’s 7s team made a winning start at the Oceania 7s after beating New Caledonia 35‑0.

Fiji’s tries were scored by Waisea Nacuqu, Jerry Tuwai and Paula Dranisinukula.

Fiji led 28‑0 at halftime.

Fiji will play American Samoa at 7:40pm.

In another match, New Zealand defeated Nauru 46-0.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team have won their second pool match of the Oceania 7s after thrashing Tonga 52‑5.

Lavenia Tinai scored a hat‑trick while Rusila Nagasau scored two tries. Fiji's other tries was scored by captain Ana Maria Roqica, Mereula Torooti, Ana Maria Naimasi, Pricilla Siata and Asinate Savu.

The Fijiana was leading 24-5 at halftime.

Their last pool match will be against Australia at 6pm.

Looking at the results of the second round of matches, PNG Women's thumped Tahiti 77‑0 while New Zealand women’s beat Cook Islands 26‑5.

The women’s final kicks off at 7.06pm tomorrow.

In the Men’s competition, the Cup quarters start at 11am tomorrow, the semis start at 3pm while the Cup final is at 6.46pm tomorrow.
