Fiji Men's Soccer team win their first match against Tahiti at the Pacific Games

The Fiji Men’s Soccer team made a winning start at the Pacific Games as they beat Tahiti 2-1 in their first pool match.

Samuela Drudru scored Fiji’s first goal in the first half.

Roy Krishna scored the second goal in the second half through a penalty.

There are two pools in the Pacific Games soccer competition.

Only the top teams from each pool qualify for the final.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Women’s Nines rugby team defeated Papua New Guinea 16-8 in their opening match of the Rugby 9s competition at the Pacific Games.

Earlier today, Matelita Buadromo won Fiji’s first medal in the 2019 Pacific Games.

Buadromo came 3rd in the Women’s 5,000 metres Open Swimming competition this morning while Jeremiah Faktaufon came 5th in the Men’s 5,000 metres Open Swimming Competition.

Looking at the Pacific Games medal tally, Fiji is currently in third place with one bronze medal. New Caledonia is first with 1 gold
