Kyle Walker's brilliant second‑half strike preserved Premier League champions Manchester City's unbeaten start to the season as they secured a battling 2-1 victory over winless Newcastle.
City had seen title rivals Liverpool and Chelsea win earlier and had to work hard for three points to keep pace at the top end of the table.
Full‑back Walker was the match‑winner with his first goal for the club, picking the ball up 30 yards out and drilling a low finish into the far corner of the net.
In other EPL matches this morning, Liverpool beat Leicester 2-1, Chelsea beat Bournemouth 2-0 while Everton and Huddersfield drew 1-all.
Liverpool continues to lead the Premier League points table with 12 points, Chelsea is second with 12 points, Manchester City is third with 10 points while Tottenham is fourth with 9 points.
Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski scored his sixth goal in four games as Bayern Munich continued their winning start with 3-0 victory against Stuttgart in the German Bundesliga.
Bayern Munich leads the points table with six points.
