Army beats Police to win the 2017 ANZ Ratu Sukuna Bowl Rugby Challenge

The 2017 ANZ Ratu Sukuna Bowl is going to Delainabua after the Army rugby side defeated Police 19-12 in wet conditions at the ANZ Stadium.

Experience flanker and captain Isake Katonibau was instrumental as he led his troops to a hard fought victory and upset the star studded Police side.

Army’s first try was scored by flanker Usumaki Titoko while their second try was scored by lanky lock Daveta Koroitakali.

Flyhalf Jeke Suguturaga kicked a penalty while former national 7s rep Emosi Mulevoro kicked two to secure the victory for the men in Red.

It took 70 minutes for the Army to secure two much needed penalties right in front of the uprights.

They maintained their composure and frustrated the Police game plans.

Coach Joji Rinakama says the new players have earned their spot in the team.

Meanwhile the Police center Mitieli Nacagilevu scored two tries with Jonetani Ralulu converting one.

This will be the 25th time that Army wins the Ratu Sukuna Bowl while Police have won 30 times.
