Veteran halfback Piri Weepu is the notable omission from the 28-man All Blacks squad for the Rugby Championship.

All Blacks coach, Steve Hansen has opted for the younger trio of Aaron Smith, Tawera Kerr-Barlow and TJ Perenara.

Hurricanes loose forward Victor Vito has also missed the cut with Blues blindside Steven Luatua preferred due to his versatility.

Prop Charlie Faumuina returns with no room for Chiefs prop Ben Afeaki.

Crusaders youngster Joe Moody is in as injury cover for Wyatt Crockett who has been named.

Some of the big names in the All Blacks squad include:
Tony Woodcock, Wyatt Crockett, Ben Franks, Owen Franks, Andrew Hore, Keven Mealamu, Brodie Retallick, Luke Romano,Richie McCaw, Kieran Read, Liam Messam, Sam Cane, Dan Carter, Aaron Cruden, Beauden Barrett, Conrad Smith, Ma'a Nonu, Israel Dagg, Julian Savea, Ben Smith and Charles Piutau.
 
The All Blacks play the Wallabies in Sydney in just under two weeks.
