A new farm access road linking communities in the interior of Ba is expected to improve the lives of residents by cutting travel times, reducing transport costs and providing easier access to markets and essential services.

Work is continuing on the 9.1 kilometre Navilawa–Yaloku Access Road, which is being funded by the Coalition Government through the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management's Rural Outer Island (ROI) Development Programme.

The $200,000 project will connect communities between Nadi and Ba, providing farmers with a more efficient route to transport their produce to markets.

Once completed, the road is expected to reduce travel time between Sabeto, Nadi and Ba from about two hours to just 40 minutes.

The improved road network is also expected to lower transportation costs, enhance road safety and create new economic opportunities for rural communities while improving access to essential services.

The Ministry says work on the project is progressing as part of the Government's ongoing investment in rural infrastructure aimed at strengthening connectivity and supporting economic development in remote communities.
