Amazon founder and CEO Jeffrey Preston Bezos is not only the richest person in the world, but Bezos became the richest ever person on the planet back in July, when his fortune hit the eye‑watering figure of $US151 billion.
That represented a huge $45 billion increase just since January 1 2018. At the moment, his net worth is thought to be a little over $US134 billion.
His blistering net worth figure places Bezos far ahead of tech giant Bill Gates of Microsoft fame, who is the second richest person on the planet with a fortune of $US93 billion.
The richest woman in the world, Françoise Bettencourt‑Meyers, is an heiress to the L’Oreal cosmetics fortune. At the time this was written, she was worth $US49.4 billion.
