Youths of the People’s Alliance Party (PAP) walked out of the National Youth Assembly at the Suva Civic Centre after their nominee for presidency was initially disqualified.
The walkout involved youths from Vanua Levu, who protested when the AGM secretariat did not allow Salote Bulitavu, nominated by PAP youths from Cakaudrove, Bua, and Macuata, to contest for the president’s position.
About 100 youths walked out of the Suva Civic Centre.
PAP General Secretary Sila Balawa described the issue as technical.
The CBM youths were later called back, and they successfully nominated Bulitavu, who was elected as the president of the PAP Young Alliance.
