Travelling from Navua to Suva every morning has finally paid off for Gospel High School’s Dux, Kym Aptinko, who scored 338 out of 400, the highest average in the school, during today’s prize-giving ceremony.
Aptinko, who hails from Rotuma and also shares maternal links to the island, became emotional while speaking to fijivillage News.
He says his parents have been his biggest inspiration, and the two-year daily travel from Navua has all been worth it.
Aptinko says his parents’ constant encouragement to excel in his studies motivated him throughout the year, and he is overwhelmed to have made them proud today.
He says he joined Gospel High School just last year, and being able to achieve the Dux award this year is a blessing from God.
During the graduation ceremony, Head of School Iliasi Parker thanked students for their hard work, noting improved results this year compared to last year.
Parker acknowledged parents and guardians for their continued support and hopes the same level of commitment will continue next year.
