Eating fast food has become a major concern for villagers in Mau, Namosi despite the fact that they have land around them that they can utilise to plant vegetables and crops.
The Turaga ni Koro of Mau Village, Paula Kauyaca told fijivillage News that tinned food and noodles are now the most common meals, as they are easier for families to provide for their children.
Kauyaca says that many children find it difficult to eat meals if they do not include noodles or tuna.
He adds that the issue has been discussed during village meetings, highlighting the importance of eating healthy food and reducing the consumption of fast food.
Kauyaca also says that villagers have been encouraged to plant more vegetables and crops and to practise healthy eating habits.
