Three people have lost their lives yesterday in three separate road accidents.

In the first incident, a 65-year-old woman from Korociriciri Road, Nausori, was sitting by the roadside waiting for a bus early in the morning when she was struck by a vehicle.

Police say she was rushed to the Nausori Health Centre but was pronounced dead on arrival. The driver is currently in custody.

In the second incident, a man died on the spot after the vehicle he was driving went off the road along Queens Road, Yarawa Stretch, near the slope towards Talenaua, Serua.

Police say the incident occurred at around 2.30pm, and they believe the man was intoxicated.

They say in the third incident, a 34-year-old man passed away yesterday from injuries sustained in an accident on Boxing Day.

He was travelling in a vehicle along Waicoka Road towards Nausori when the driver allegedly failed to negotiate a bend, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and land in a mud pool.

Police say the driver fled the scene.

The man was initially treated at Nausori Health Centre and later transferred to CWM Hospital, where he died last night.

Investigations into all three incidents are underway.
