Laughter and excitement filled the Tanoa Plaza Hotel as the hotel hosted its annual Tanoa Kaachi Day, a special event dedicated to the children of its staff.

Tanoa Plaza Hotel says the day celebrated family while giving children a fun and educational behind-the-scenes experience of hotel operations.

The celebration on Saturday began with a guided tour of the hotel’s key departments, including the kitchen, restaurant, bar, conference rooms, guest rooms, and service areas.

Hotel staff explained their roles and responsibilities, giving the children a unique insight into the hard work and long hours involved in delivering exceptional hospitality.

General Manager of Tanoa Plaza Hotel, Mere Rakoroi, says the tour was about more than showcasing the hotel’s facilities.

She says it was an opportunity to help families understand the sacrifices staff make every day, including long working hours, missed festive seasons, and time spent away from loved ones.

Rakoroi adds that it was a proud moment for staff to share their working environment with their children.

Following the tour, the children enjoyed a kid-friendly lunch featuring pizzas, burgers, fries, hotdogs, fresh fruits, and a variety of juices.

She adds that the highlight of the day was an indoor carnival complete with candy floss, popcorn, and snow cones, followed by swimming pool fun.

Tanoa Plaza Hotel says the celebration concluded with children receiving party bags filled with goodies.

The annual Tanoa Kaachi Day continues to reflect the hotel’s people-first approach, recognising not only its guests but also the families and communities who support staff behind the scenes.

Management has extended its gratitude to all staff, children, and organisers for making the event a resounding success.
