Swire Shipping donates bus to help Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital with community outreach

A generous donation of a 35 seater bus worth $240,000 has been made by Swire Shipping to the Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital to support community outreach and help more children.

Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital Director, Dr Krupali Tappoo, stresses that they provide “Health on Wheels” rural outreach camps and transport medical professionals to villages, adding that the bus will greatly assist in taking medical professionals into these communities.

Dr Tappoo shares that prior to the bus donation, their visiting teams, ranging from 20 to 40 medical professionals, required additional transport.

She explains that although they had a 16-seater vehicle, they often had to hire an additional 20-seater, and sometimes even a third vehicle.

She adds that the visiting teams typically include surgeons, cardiologists, and paediatricians who come to assist with pre-heart surgeries at the hospital.

She noted that the new bus would help reduce the need for hiring extra vehicles, which is a costly exercise.

Dr Tappoo emphasises that every child in Fiji has access to the highest quality healthcare, free of cost and full of love.

Meanwhile, Swire Shipping General Manager Pacific, Alex Pattison, says the hospital’s unwavering dedication to saving lives without charging patients is inspiring and deserves full support.
