The Social Democratic Liberal Party says they are shocked that one of their former party members has been charged by FICAC for allegedly opposing Sodelpa publicly sometime last year, after becoming a public officer through her appointment to various government Boards.
In response to social media posts, Sodelpa says as a party they had not made any complaints against Tanya Waqanika at the time of her outburst and Sodelpa maintains that under its current leadership, reconciliation and forgiveness is at the cornerstone of its journey.
Sodelpa says they will hold on to the values of freedom of speech and expression and urge everyone to protect democracy and support women’s leadership and political participation.
They maintain that they respect the rule of law and will respect the process of FICAC; and their prayers are with Waqanika and her family during this trying period.
