Chief Executive Officer of Drug Free Sports Fiji Sitiveni Rokoro

Sitiveni Rokoro has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Drug Free Sports Fiji and will officially commence work on 16th March, marking a significant step in strengthening the country’s National Anti-Doping Organisation framework.

Speaking after the signing of his appointment, Rokoro thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Board for their trust and confidence in him.

He acknowledged that it has taken 16 years since Fiji ratified the UNESCO Convention Against Doping in Sport to reach this milestone.

Rokoro says he understood the perseverance and commitment involved in establishing the organisation, stressing that its focus will be on protecting the integrity of sport in Fiji and safeguarding athletes at all times.

He adds that he is committed to fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to him and supporting the government’s vision for sports development while promoting clean sport nationwide.

Manager Sports, Jone Koroitamana says Drug Free Sports Fiji was formally established under the Anti-Doping Act 2024, which created the country’s first independent national anti-doping body.

He says the legislation mandates the organisation to implement and enforce anti-doping regulations in line with international standards.

He adds that as Fiji’s official National Anti-Doping Organisation, the body oversees testing, education, results management and compliance monitoring to ensure fair competition.

Koroitamana says that the organisation's operations align with the World Anti-Doping Code and global sport integrity frameworks, working closely with the World Anti-Doping Agency and UNESCO.

Officials say the establishment positions Fiji as the first Pacific island nation to operate a fully independent NADO, moving beyond reliance on regional mechanisms.

They say collaboration with regional partners will continue to strengthen governance, education and testing capacity across the Pacific.

Under Rokoro’s leadership, the organisation is expected to implement its Strategic Plan 2027–2030, focusing on transparency, accountability and effective enforcement to safeguard the integrity of Fijian sport.
