As the Labasa Airport will be closed for about 6 weeks from February 16th next year, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Civil Aviation Viliame Gavoka says they are making arrangements to ensure air traffic continues all day from Savusavu.
While speaking to fijivillage News, Gavoka says Labasa Airport is now feeling the impact of the heavy traffic and it needs to be strengthened.
He says there will be some inconvenience during the period, but he is pleading with everyone to understand that it is something that needs to be done for a runway that can operate over the next many years in the future.
The Deputy Prime Minister says they will make it convenient for the people with shuttles and the like to connect to Savusavu.
When questioned if Savusavu will be able to handle the high volume of traffic, Gavoka there will be increased frequencies on the type of aircraft that suits Savusavu.
