Sanatan Sabha urges compassion, unity and responsible festive celebrations

The festive season is a time of reflection, prayer, gratitude and togetherness, and it reminds communities of their rich spiritual heritage and the timeless values of service, love and unity.
In his Christmas message, Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji National President, Dhirendra Nand highlighted that this period provides an important opportunity for families and communities to come together, strengthen bonds, and reaffirm their commitment to moral and ethical living.
Nand says that, as the second-largest religious body in Fiji, Sanatan Fiji is encouraging devotees to celebrate responsibly, with humility and respect for others.
He says celebrations should be guided by compassion for the less fortunate, care for the environment, and sensitivity towards neighbours and the wider society, adding that true celebration lies not in excess, but in sharing, discipline and righteousness.
He also appealed to parents, youth and community leaders to remain vigilant during the festive period, highlighting concerns such as substance abuse, reckless behaviour and social division.
Nand stressed that festivals should uplift society, not place it at risk, and called on communities to guide the younger generation with wisdom, positive values and good example.
He hopes the festive season will bring peace to every home, prosperity to the nation and spiritual strength to all, and has wished everyone a safe, joyful and spiritually fulfilling festive season.
