Salawai and Seniloli remanded for alleged murder of Constable Racagi

Salawai and Seniloli remanded for alleged murder of Constable Racagi

Two men from Qauia in Lami, 42-year-old Keni Salawai and 20-year-old Jope Seniloli who have been charged with the alleged murder of 24-year-old Police Constable Peniasi Racagi in Lami, have been remanded in custody.

They appeared before Suva Magistrate Sufia Hamza this afternoon.

Police Prosecution Sergeant Preetika Prasad says murder is an indictable offence.

The case will be called again on the 13th of this month in the Suva High Court.

The two with another individual are alleged to have between the 21st and 22nd of February 2026, aided and abetted to cause injuries to the late Police Constable Racagi, causing his death.

No details have been revealed on the third person.

Racagi's body was found in the sea near the Lami Oceania Wesley Church on Sunday February 22nd.

Constable Racagi was allegedly assaulted by these men as he was on foot patrol.

Information had earlier come in that the constable had asked the men to disperse as they were drinking alcohol in a public place on that Saturday night.
