A number of recommendations have been made by the Chairperson of the Public Service Commission regarding Permanent Secretary for Fisheries Atelaite Rokosuka, who was found guilty in the $115 million Infinite Power Clean Energy (Fiji) Pte Limited wind turbine scandal and publicly reprimanded.
This has been confirmed by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka while responding to questions by fijivillage News on the government's next step after Rokosuka returned to work on the 19th of this month following her public reprimand, according to the decision of the Public Service Disciplinary Tribunal.
Rabuka says the PSC's recommendations will be communicated at the appropriate time, in line with established processes.
PSC Chair Luke Rokovada has told fijivillage News that these recommendations are confidential until such time when they are implemented.
Meanwhile, Rokovada had said last year that an investigation was commissioned by PSC following reports about the deal that was entered into by the Fiji Sports Council through the Executive Chair, Gilbert Vakalalabure and Rokosuka.
Questions continue be asked on what has been the outcome for the Council, particularly for Vakalalabure.
fijivillage News has received confirmation that Vakalalabure has not gone through any investigation process after Rokovada had publicly made the statement last year.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports is yet to respond.
We have also sought comments from FICAC on whether it has conducted any investigation in relation to the wind turbine project scandal.
They are yet to respond.
Following Rokosuka’s public reprimand for her serious misconduct, we have asked FICAC when it will conclude it's investigation, if any, into this wind turbine scandal.
We have also asked what is the reason if no investigation has been conducted, knowing this is a very serious matter which has been raised publicly since 2023.
