The Rarawai Mill in Ba reopens today following successful restoration works.
Farmers are advised that normal cane delivery to the Rarawai Mill will resume from today.
Minister for Sugar Industry, Charan Jeath Singh says this is a strong signal that the rehabilitation efforts are delivering results and that the government is getting the industry moving again.
The services at the Rarawai Mill were halted following the fire incident which occurred on the 15th of September this year.
The Fiji Sugar Corporation Limited confirms that all major maintenance work arising from the incident has been finalised.
They say remaining minor tasks have been scheduled and will not affect the mill’s start-up or ongoing crushing activities.
FSC’s engineering and technical teams have worked in close coordination with the relevant authorities to meet all safety and operational requirements ahead of reopening.
They say the FSC field staff will communicate with the gangs and growers supplying cane to Rarawai Mill on further details.
