The Fiji Police Force has completed their investigation into the conduct of a police officer based at the Navua Police Station, who was the subject of a viral video widely circulated on social media .
Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu says investigators have obtained the woman's signed statement, where she has strongly refuted claims that she was a victim of sexual harassment, and at no point was forced by the officer.
Tudravu says the criminal element of the allegation of sexual harassment has been ruled out, considering the woman's signed statement, however, internal investigation will continue with regards to the conduct of the officer based at the Navua Police Station.
The Commissioner says the organisation recognises the importance of ensuring officers are held accountable for any form of misconduct, with internal disciplinary proceedings to be initiated.
He adds that it is paramount to achieving the organisation's intent of restoring public trust and confidence, and ensure that all members of the organisation uphold the ethics and values of the institution.
