Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka has not confirmed when he will meet Minister for Sports, Jese Saukuru regarding the business class travel by Saukuru's wife under the Fiji Airways contra deal with Fiji Sports Council, and other Sports Council related matters.
When asked by fijivillage News, Rabuka said he could not have the meeting as he did not want to disturb Saukuru's participation with other Ministers in the Commonwealth Law Ministers Meeting in Nadi.
Meanwhile the whistleblower who is a former Fiji Sports Council staff, continues his call for the government to seriously look into the affairs at the council.
He says there are concerning cases of conflict of interest like Rokoika and Vakalalabure Lawyers Limited, owned by Tevita Vakalalabure and Lavi Rokoika who are the brother and sister-in-law of current CEO of Fiji Sports Council and Executive Chairman, Gilbert Vakalalabure, having an office space at the National Hockey Centre which is a Sports Council facility.
The former council staff says there was just verbal communication by Gilbert Vakalalabure to facilitate the order last year that the law firm will be renting the office space at the Fiji Hockey Centre.
He says this is concerning as many sporting bodies have requested for office space in the past but they were shut out.
We have contacted Saukuru and Vakalalabure.
They are yet to comment.
