PM confirms changes to Cabinet and office management

A cabinet reshuffle has been announced by the Prime Minister which includes Sakiasi Ditoka becoming the Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Mosese Bulitavu the Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, and Charan Jeath Singh to serve as Minister for Public Enterprises, Multi-Ethnic Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Arts.

Lynda Tabuya has been assigned the portfolio of Minister for Information, Environment and Climate Change.

Tomasi Tunabuna has been appointed Minister for Agriculture and the Sugar Industry, while Ifereimi Vasu will still serve as Minister for iTaukei Affairs, with responsibilities covering iTaukei culture, heritage and arts.

Sachida Nand has been reassigned as Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Commerce and Business Development.

The reshuffle will take effect from January 19th 2026.

Prime Minister Rabuka confirms that he will continue to hold responsibility for the Civil Service and Strategic Planning, National Development and Statistics.

He says the reshuffle also includes changes to the management of government office accommodation.

He adds the office accommodation and housing unit will be transferred to the Ministry of Public Works, while the Ministry of Civil Service will retain responsibility for setting the overall office accommodation and housing policy for government.

Prime Minister Rabuka says the changes form part of ongoing efforts to strengthen governance as the Government enters its fourth year in office.
