Former Fiji age-group rugby player who hails from Ba and USA Olympic Sevens representative Andrew Durutalo has joined the Japan Rugby High Performance Programme as an Independent Observer.
The former Suva Grammar School Dean's Captain and Oxford University graduate has continued to expand his experience within elite sport, recently accepting an invitation from Japan Rugby to join its High Performance Programme as an Independent Observer during the Nations Championship.
The invitation provides Durutalo with behind-the-scenes access to one of world rugby's most respected high-performance environments, where he will observe the systems, processes, and decision-making that underpin Japan's international programme throughout the tournament.
The appointment reflects growing recognition of Durutalo's broad experience across the global high-performance landscape.

Durutalo has built a career spanning Olympic competition, Rugby World Cups, professional rugby, and executive leadership.
He continues to immerse himself in world-class sporting environments to deepen his understanding of the factors that drive sustained success at the highest level.
Rather than serving in a coaching or management capacity, Durutalo's role is focused on observation, learning, and the exchange of knowledge.
The opportunity offers valuable insight into one of international rugby's most progressive high-performance programmes while further strengthening his work across global sport.
Speaking about the opportunity, Durutalo told fijivillage News that the experience aligns with his commitment to lifelong learning and continuous professional development.
He says high-performance sport is constantly evolving, and there is always something to learn from organisations that consistently perform at the highest level.
The Ba robust forward says he is grateful to Japan Rugby for the opportunity to observe their programme from within, gain a deeper understanding of their systems, and continue building relationships that contribute to the global exchange of high-performance knowledge.
The experience further reinforces Durutalo's ongoing commitment to advancing high-performance sport through collaboration, learning, and the sharing of best practice across organisations and countries.
