Olivia Dean’s heartfelt love song “Man I Need” has claimed the top spot on the FM96 Big 96 Countdown with Vodafone, securing its place as the number one song of the year.

Released as the third single from her second album, The Art of Loving, the track has captivated listeners with its emotional clarity and direct communication, propelling Dean to the forefront of the international music scene.

In a year that saw Dean dominate the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) charts, “Man I Need” has now enjoyed a six-week reign at the top of the ARIA Singles Chart, cementing her place as one of the biggest stars in the industry.

The Art of Loving has also held the number one position on the ARIA Albums Chart for four non-consecutive weeks, reflecting Dean’s impressive impact on both the singles and albums charts.

Meanwhile, in a close second place on the FM96 countdown, “Golden” by the fictional K-pop group Huntrix, from the animated musical fantasy Kpop Demon Hunters, has also made a major impact.

The track made history by becoming the first K-pop song led by female vocalists to top the Hot 100.

This marks an important moment for female empowerment in the K-pop industry, as “Golden” becomes the ninth K-pop track to reach number one on the chart.

Kehlani’s “Folded”, lands at number three, with the track’s smooth production and emotionally charged lyrics.

Folded” has been lauded for its depth and has seen considerable chart success, proving once again why Kehlani remains one of the most influential voices in contemporary R&B.

Here are the top 10 songs that have defined the year for FM96 listeners:

1. Man I Need – Olivia Dean

2. Golden – Huntrix

3. Folded – Kehlani

4. Kavoro – George 'Fiji' Veikoso ft. Paradise Roots
